Outreach Ministries

The Outreach Ministry of St. Paul's United Methodist Church hopes to be a link to the world which is hungry, fearful, and lonely and which has spiritual, physical, and emotional needs so that quality of life may be improved for all who love in God's world. The committee promotes education of the church about the local and global community hopes, concerns, and conditions and encourages response to these needs through prayer, financial giving, service, social witness, and social action.

The Outreach Committee at St. Paul's is responding to the urging from Church World Services and Lutheran Refugee Services to reach out to people in need.  We have committed ourselves to helping furnish an apartment for a refugee family in the Omaha area.  We need to respond fairly quickly as families will be arriving in just a few weeks.  They are coming from Burma, and typically will be in refugee camps in Thailand for many years (ten to twenty) prior to coming to our country.

BRIDGES is a community outreach program of Saint Paul's United Methodist Church.  It is aimed at Junior High aged participants and their parents.  We provide after-school care for these youth who would in many cases go home and stay by themselves because their parents work.  Bridges started three years ago to provide a safe, fun place for 7th and 8th grade students to be after school.  Bridges is a low cost alternative ($20/ Month) for students who need a place to be after their school activities are over.  Bridges provides snacks, study time, gym time as well as adult supervision.

In an effort to help St Paul's members understand what Stephen Ministry is all about, your Stephen Ministries team has compiled nine questions and answers that everyone at St Paul's should know. The questions provide an overview of the ministry, what its like to receive care, how St Paul's benefits from the ministry, help you make decisions about referring yourself or others to the care of a Stephen Minister, and help you consider becoming a Stephen Minister.
